~*~*~Note of wisdom~*~*~
Not one shred of evidence supports the notion that life is serious.

My stats before I started the program

Weight: 149lbs
Chest: 37"

Hips: 37.25"
Right Mid-Thigh: 19.5"
Left Mid-Thigh: 19.5"
Right Upper Arm: 12" (flexed, measured at the peak of the bicep)

The purpose of this page is to log my progress over the 1st 4 weeks of the workout program (Power 90) that I am using to (hopefully) get back into shape.

My eating and living habits up till now have been pretty sad as I was only eating twice a day. My first meal (and biggest) was lunch, which I take around 1pm daily. Lunch usually consists of some type of fast food (Dbl bacon cheeseburger, Fries, soft drink supersized of course). The other meal I eat is supper which tends to be around 7pm. This meal could be anything to a can of soup to steak with all the trimmings. Needless to say this is not the "healthy" way to live. I work M-F at a desk job then come home and either sit in front of my computer or lay on the couch and watch tv.

I have decided that in order to enjoy my kids I need to get back into shape so I will have the energy that kids demand. Feel free to leave comments and/or encouragements.

OK, I guess I should clarify that no I am not obese, but to me, this IS fat! I've had several people tell me that I don't look bad (liars) and that I should quit saying I am, but this is MY site and MY belly so I'm gonna say what I want! So there! LOL just kidding everyone. I do appreciate your comments (keep them coming) and I do agree that I am not really overweight, however the weight I do have is not the kind of weight I want. The reason I am doing this program is for myself (call me selfish) to improve my overall health and fitness. So let's do it....

Note: These are my Day 1 photos (scary huh?)

Week 1: January 28th - Febuary 3rd

Day 1: Monday, January 28th
Blood Pressure: 135/83
Heart Rate: 89 bpm
Time in Target Heart Rate: 7 minutes
Today was the Phase I-II Circuit Video.

It was tough...I am so out of shape...and believe me, I felt it today. Basically I watched the video to see how each exercise was done then rewound it and did it along with the video. I was unable to do as many reps as they did but hey....it is DAY 1 LOL. This should improve as I progress through the program. OK Day 2...bring it on.....

*****
Day 2: Tuesday, January 29th
Blood Pressure: 127/80
Heart Rate: 82 bpm
Time in Target Heart Rate: 19 minutes
OK, today I did Phase I-II Cardio/Abs 100

Very tough, but I actually enjoyed myself quite a bit. Was able to stay with the tape most of the time. Only had to pause it a couple times during the cardio workout. Now the Abs....that was a different story altogether LOL. Way harder than I could do so I only did some (2 or 3)of each exercise but will work hard at increasing that each time I do the abs. But overall was a great workout. Only thing I dread is how sore I am going to be tomorrow. I was pretty stiff today after doing the Circuit yesterday but it should get better with time.

*****
Day 3: Wednesday, January 30th
Blood Pressure: 129/80
Heart Rate: 78
Time in Target Heart Rate: 6 minutes
Phase I-II Circuit Video

Woohoo I survived another workout :o) Well actually it wasn't too bad. I'm getting to know the routine better so I think that helps. Still wasn't able to do the complete amount of each exercise (pushups are hard for this fatboy LOL) but I did push myself to do more than I did on day 1. I am hoping that I will be able to do them all by next week but time will tell. I feel good about myself for doing this and have no doubt that I will make it all 90 days. I want that 6 pack LOL. I enjoy the cardio workout more than the circuit one but I know that I have to do both. I am doing pretty good on my eating. I now eat a small breakfast, midmorning snack, small lunch, midafternoon snack and a small dinner. Last meal I eat is at about 7-7:30pm which should help burn those calories at night. Looking forward to tomorrows cardio workout (even though I am one sore dude).

*****
Day 4: Thursday, January 31st
Blood Pressure: 119/77
Heart Rate: 71bpm
Time in Target Heart Rate: 18 minutes
Phase I-II Cardio/Abs 100

Did fairly well today...still not able to keep up with the video LOL but I will soon. Was able to do more of the abs than I did on day 2 (I kinda fizzed out a bit at the end but not too bad) and think I can do them all on day 6. Still doing good on the eating thing. 3 small meals with 2 very small snacks...it is not as bad as it sounds and I don't really even get hungry which surprised me.

*****
Day 5: Friday, February 1st
Blood Pressure: 120/75
Heart Rate: 77
Time in Target Heart Rate: 9 minutes
Phase I-II Circuit Video

Alright I knocked out day 5 without too much of a problem. Still am working on matching them on the push-ups (my weak point) but did really well today. I feel good and the supplements I am taking (available for the Power 90 program) really do help me keep from getting sore too much. I get stiff but not like I have in the past which is one of the main reasons I always quit other workout programs.

*****
Day 6: Saturday, February 2nd
Blood Pressure: 118/78
Heart Rate: 66 bpm
Time in Target Heart Rate: 18 minutes
Phase I-II Cardio/Abs 100

Last workout for week one.....get to rest tomorrow WOOOHOOOOO!!!!! I figure if I can get through week one I can go the rest of the way....only 12 more weeks. I am feeling so much better after just 6 days I can't wait to see how I feel (and look) at the end of day 30. Abs are still a killer for me but slowly getting better at them. My 8 year old daughter worked out with me today. She has decided that I am totally nuts. She wanted to know if I was trying to kill myself with pain. LOL kids are so cute aren't they? I told her that I was only killing my excess fat so that I would look and feel better. Her response? "Good luck Dad!" I think she was being a bit sarcastic. LOL

*****
Day 7: Sunday, February 3rd
Day of rest.

No workout today...other than playing with my kids. I am real pleased with my progress so far and can hardly wait to see my results after my 1st thirty days is up. I was originally going to check my stats after each week. But I thought through it and decided that if I did that, I may get disappointed if there wasn't much of a change each week. So I will check my stats at each 30 day mark in the 90 day program and post them on those days. Each 15 days I will post photos showing my progress.

Week 2: February 4th - February 10th

Day 8: Monday, February 4th
Blood Pressure: 130/76
Heart Rate: 73 bpm
Time in Target Heart Rate: 12 minutes
Phase I-II Circuit Video

WOW...today was tough...guess that day off makes it harder. I did real well today. I managed to do everything except 3 push-ups..I know, I know...I'm a wimp. What's 3 measly old push-ups? Well 3 can be a HUGE number if your sore and tired. I am determined to get them all next time. Overall I feel good and still have plenty of will power to make it though this program.

*****
Day 9: Tuesday, February 5th
Blood Pressure: 119/85
Heart Rate: 87 bpm
Time in Target Heart Rate: 28 minutes
Phase I-II Cardio/Abs 100

Still at it and don't plan on stopping. Them abs are a B**** but hey you can't get output without input ya know. Today I am 10% of the way through the program. YEAH BABY!!! Not much else to say but bring on day 10.

*****
Day 10: Wednesday, February 6th
Blood Pressure: 132/69
Heart Rate: 78 bpm
Time in Target Heart Rate: 19 minutes
Phase I-II Circuit Video

Not too bad today. Still having a tough time with those last couple push-ups but will get them eventually. Too determined not to. Still a bit sore but starting to think that will never go away.I think I look like I've lost weight but that could just be wishful thinking. Will know when I weigh-in and take my 15 day photos later this week. Kinda looking forward to it but yet a bit aprehesive in case I really haven't done as well as I think. Oh well, not going to worry about it now, can't change the past ya know.

*****
Day 11: Thursday, February 7th
Blood Pressure: 114/74
Heart Rate: 79 bpm
Time in Target Heart Rate: 27 minutes
Phase I-II Cardio/Abs 100

I thought this was supposed to get easier. Today was the toughest day yet. I'm thinking that maybe it is because I am pushing myself harder this week than I did on week one. Two days left then I get to rest a day YEAH!!!! Too bit honest, if I wasn't so committed to this (not to mention all the flack I'd get from everyone) I could see skipping some days. But I won't! I want this too bad.

*****
Day 12: Friday, February 8th
Blood Pressure: 120/70
Heart Rate: 84 bpm
Time in Target Heart Rate: 19 minutes
Phase I-II Circuit

Well once again today was fun...and I almost even mean it LOL. Still really sore but chugging through the best I can. I am getting alot of moral support and encouragements from people visiting my site as well as friends and family I have locally. I just want to tell everyone THANK YOU!!!!! It really does mean alot and you can't believe how much it helps knowing you are all out there cheering me on. One more day till I get to rest again LOL. Let's do it....

*****
Day 13: Saturday, February 9th
Blood Pressure: 113/72
Heart Rate: 78 bpm
Time in Target Heart Rate: 27 minutes
Phase I-II Cardio/Abs 100

Glad thats over. LOL. Seriously though, I do feel better (alot more sore, but better) and I sleep better as well as have more energy now. I always thought that was a crock story just to try to get me to exercise but its really true. This week was ALOT harder than week 1. I hope it gets better because i hurt. I think I even found some muscles I never had before. Anyway, tomorrow is my day of rest and thats what got me thru the week was that one day of rest.

*****
Day 14: Sunday, February 10th
Day of rest.

A well deserved day of rest I might add. LOL. Still sore but I will survive. Tomorrow starts week three and boy I hope it gets easier. I will NOT quit. I want this too bad for that. Still eating 5 times a day, suprisingly thats not as difficult as I thought it would be even with the small portions. Although I should be eating a bit more healthy than I am (still eating fast food lunches but ordering off the kids menu LOL) I think it really helps me out. Can't wait to see how I look and feel after the program is over (76 more days for those of you keeping track).

Week 3: February 11th - February 17th

Day 15: Monday, February 11th
Blood Pressure: 118/73
Heart Rate: 73 bpm
Time in Target Heart Rate: 22 minutes
Phase I-II Circuit Video

I am 1/6th of the way through the program now. I feel good and, as promised, I will get my 15 day photos and stats posted either today or tomorrow. Feel free to let me know how you think my progress (or lack thereof) is going.

Here is my 15 day photo.

Day 16: Tuesday, February 12th
Blood Pressure: 127/79
Heart Rate: 76 bpm
Time in Target Heart Rate:32 minutes
Phase I-II Cardio/Abs 100

I am starting to wonder if this is ever going to get easier. Still not able to get through the complete video without a break. I suppose that once I start doing that on a consistant basis then it will be time to graduate to the next phase of the work-out program.

*****
Day 17: Wednesday, February 13th
Blood Pressure: 111/72
Heart Rate: 72 bpm
Time in Target Heart Rate: 21 minutes
Phase I-II Circuit Video

This is soooo cool. I had a couple people tell me that I look great, did I lose weight?? Even though I know what I have done it is soooo much better hearing it from someone else. Today was still tough but I did manage to squeeze out those last couple of pesky push-ups although it was one heck of a struggle. But now I am one happy camper. Just have to keep at it and I WILL get where I want to be.

*****
Day 18: Thursday, February 14th
Blood Pressure: 122/76
Heart Rate: 74 bpm
Time in Target Heart Rate: 32 minutes
Phase I-II Cardio/Abs 100

One day closer to my goal. I still find myself wondering if I am going to make the entire 90 days...but then I just tell myself that I WILL make it! So I continue on. Not much else to say....same ol', same ol' so I there is not much else to add for today. See ya tomorrow.

*****
Day 19: Friday, February 15th
Blood Pressure: 131/81
Heart Rate: 82 bpm
Time in Target Heart Rate: 21 minutes
Phase I-II Circuit Video

Did pretty good today. Still sore and them push-ups are still a pain in my...er....side but I made it through. Still waiting for this to get easier which should hopefully be soon LOL.

*****
Day 20: Saturday, February 16th
Blood Pressure: 120/77
Heart Rate: 78 bpm
Time in Target Heart Rate: 33 minutes
Phase I-II Cardio/Abs 100

Another tough work-out day but I made it through. Only 70 days left on the program. Hoping for that 6 pack (stomach not beer) that I have NEVER had in my life. Of course it was not something I ever really felt I needed before. Guess this is my early "mid-life crisis" LOL.

*****
Day 21: Sunday, February 17th
Day of rest

Got to rest today...that was nice. :o) Ready to tackle week 4 though.

Week 4: February 18th - February 24th

Day 22: Monday, February 18th
Blood Pressure: 120/77
Heart Rate: 74 bpm
Time in Target Heart Rate: 21 minutes
Phase I-II Circuit Video

Made it yet another day. I did good though, even did all my push-ups. :o) Might be able to move on to the next phase of the circuit video if the rest of the week continues the way today went but we will have to wait and see.

*****
Day 23: Tuesday, February 19th
Blood Pressure: 117/65
Heart Rate: 73 bpm
Time in Target Heart Rate: 33 minutes
Phase I-II Cardio/Abs 100

Not much to say about today. Still going at it....staying a bit sore but I think it is finally getting easier, not easy enough to go to the next level but getting closer. Will keep you updated on that.

*****
Day 24: Wednesday, February 20th
Blood Pressure: 111/71
Heart Rate: 77 bpm
Time in Target Heart Rate: 22 minutes
Phase I-II Circuit Video

Whew, another day done. Doing good, feeling great (if you don't count being sore) and ready for yet another work-out. Closing in on day 30 when I will post updated stats and new (not nude LOL) photos.

*****
Day 25: Thursday, February 21st
Skipped today

Donated blood so could not do the work-out. Will be back on schedule tomorrow.

*****
Day 26: Friday, February 22nd
Blood Pressure: 101/66
Heart Rate: 88 bpm
Time in Target Heart Rate: 23 minutes
Phase I-II Circuit Video

Back on schedule. Arm is a bit sore from giving blood yesterday but still did the entire work-out. I think I will try Phase III-IV next week on the circuit portion of the program. I will most likely alternate between Phase I-II & III-IV for the next week or two, but will have to see how it goes first.

*****
Day 27: Saturday, February 23rd
Blood Pressure: 114/76
Heart Rate: 77 bpm
Time in Target Heart Rate: 33 minutes
Phase I-II Circuit Video

Finished with week 4 WOOOHOOO!! Doing good and feeling better. This would be easier if I had someone to work-out with but I am determined to make it through the program. So far, so good. Getting lots of positive comments on how I am looking, which I do appreciate very much.

*****
Day 28: Sunday, February 24th
Day of rest.

My favorite work-out day of the week LOL. Gives me a chance to relax and watch NASCAR. GOOOOOOOOO #24 JEFF GORDON!!!! Back to the work-out tomorrow.
