Hey all. Check out the new site I am working on "Gloom & Doom". Just keep in mind that this is a new project as of 5/02/03, so it is still a work in progress but I encourage any and all feedback both good and bad. |

General Ramblings.....
06/22/03 I know, I know.....Once again I am slacking off. Have kind of been a little bit busy here of late. As many of you know (or don't) I am a spotter for the weather service here in Kansas. I am one of those freaks that love bad weather, what can I say? Anyway, we had quite an interesting night awhile back. We had THREE, count them 1, 2 ,3 tornadoes come through town. The first one was right outside my home. I was on the back porch checking out the incoming storms when I saw the cloud rotation. I decided I ought to go get my cell phone (in case it developed into a tornado) so I could call it in to the weather service. As soon as I got into my living room where my phone was the tornado sirens went off. Being a sound and rational person I hotfooted it back to my back door, flung it open and saw a tornado about 150' away from where I was. There was a metal shed flying in the air which hit a power transformer creating an awesome display of fireworks. The twister was tearing through the fence on the other side of the street when it dawns on me.....I'm in danger...so I slammed my back door and ran (yes like a terrified child because it WAS indeed quite frightening) as debris was hitting my trailer. Luckily the twister lifted off the ground and back into the clouds before hitting my side of the street. They determined that it was a F1 tornado. The second tornado hit about a block from where I work...damaged a whole block of trailer houses as well as a couple of businesses. The third one went over the central part of town, then tore off the roof of a mall and the college before lifting up. In addition to the twisters, we had torrential downpours that flooded the downtown area. Was pretty exciting. I took some photos but have to get them developed so I can put them on the site. I haven't gotten my digital camera replaced yet from the breakin so have to do it the old fashion way of scanning them. Thats it for now. I have some other things I need to put on here but it is late and I need to get to bed.
04/13/03 OK the new layout is done for the most part. Still have a few nagging things I have to fix but will get to them.....eventually! LOL :o) Let me know what you think of the updated site and as always, keep those comments coming. Also added the Langa List link today.
04/06/03 Hey all....added a new page today. The Everything Else page so be sure to check it out. Later.
03/29/03 Howdy, I added the Iraq body counter today. It automatically updates the estimated civilian casualties in the war against Saddam. Mattie turns 18 tomorrow....time to be an adult(yeah right LOL). We don't have any plans to celebrate it due to lack of funds but will probably do something later on. Anywho, just wanted to add a note about the counter. Oh yeah, I moved the speed test up higher on my page for easier access. Well need to go finish cleaning my house. Later.
03/14/03 Just doing a quick update. Seems that I tend to forget to do this on a regular basis. Here is a quick rundown of what has been happening. My nephew Matthew (Mattie) is staying with me now. He had gotten into some trouble and needed a helping hand to guide him the right direction...not sure why he came to me, he is probably doomed now LOL. We are doing the whole "court thing" but it looks like he might only get a six month diversion (juvenile probation) and pay restitution. Sure beats jail time LOL. Mattie is a good kid just made a bad decision and now he is paying the price. He has done alot to improve himself and has more in the works. I am proud of him. We go back to court on the 25th so I will let you know how that turns out. I also got my insurance check for the front door damage and for the items stolen back in January. The alarm system is now installed and cameras will be up soon. Just call my house Fort Knox LOL. Thats it for now. Later
01/30/03 Hi all.....Sorry I haven't been updating my site here recently. Got busy with the new house then holiday things...you know, life LOL. Anyway to fill you in fairly quickly I will condense the last 6 months. Still woking at the same place. Still happily single but looking. Not much else sticks out except for some lowlifes decided they should kick my front door in on January 8th (Elvis Presleys birthday) and stole about $1,500.00 worth of stuff. They haven't caught the jerks yet but I have a surprise should they come back. I am getting both an alarm system as well as security cameras that are motion activated. They will record everything that moves on the outside of my house. This way even if they run when the alarm goes off I will still have them on tape. I just think it is a shame that some people are too lazy to go out and get a job and make their own money to buy stuff so they steal from others who do. Luckily I am not out any money (except my 250.00 deductible) since I had replacement value insurance, but the hassle of having to deal with all of that just sucked. I have also restarted my workout again. I gained most of my weight back but that was due to the fact I quit exercising and then when winter hit, I became Mr Couchpotato. So back to the program I go. I don't really mind that much since it isn't a hard workout to stay on once the 1st cpl weeks goes by, plus it is alot cheaper than buying a new wardrobe LOL. I also won't be able to post photos of my progress this time due to the fact they stole my digital camera but I will post how I am doing as I go along....probably not as detailed as last year but more like....YEAH my pants fit again. LOL. Anyway, I am headed off to bed now. Bye.
07/30/02 Howdy! Just a quick update....I GOT MY HOUSE!!!! I am posting pics of it here on my family photo page....I really dislike moving but am only paying an additional eleven dollars a month to own instead of rent (can we say equity?) so I feel it is definitely the way to go. Check out the pics and let me know what you think. After careful consideration and alot of thought I decided on a used (1997) double wide trailer (oops thats not the politically correct wording) I meant manufactured house. I could have bought a new one or a "normal" house on land but decided used was the way to go. Now I can buy a piece of land and have my house put on a basement & add an attached dbl car garage. In the state where I live, once you put a manufactured home on a permanent foundation, it becomes a "normal" house and is then deeded with the property. Since I bought a used house, I got a good deal on the price and even after buying land and paying for a basement, garage, moving the house and all the other added expenses involved with it, I should still be able to make a profit of at least 20,000.00 dollars when I sell it. Not too shabby in my book.
07/10/02 Hi all. Hope everyone had a GREAT 4th of July. I got a pretty bad sunburn myself. Guess that will teach me to always use sunscreen. Almost done painting the house I still jointly own with my ex-wife (thats how I got the sunburn). It is taking alot longer than I anticipated but I think it almost always does. Just have the trim and the porches left to do. Makes it a bit tough when you have to drive 90 miles one way just to paint. Can only work on it during a weekend because of that. Other interesting news? Hmmmm Oh yeah, I am in the process of buying a house here. I really dislike apartment living. Originally I was going to wait about another year and a half when I should be almost debt free but since I can get this house for about the same payment as what my rent is currently, it makes sense to do it now instead of throwing away another 1.5 yrs of rent money. If everything goes according to the plan, I should take possession at the end of the month. Will keep you posted on this.
